sick day no bueno

Well... I'm sick.  In London.  On a Friday.  While my friends go to Fleet Street to eat meat pies and get a shave.  Can anyone else say WTF?  I suppose it's for the best that it fell on a weekend and fairly early on in the semester, seeing as how all of October is so jam packed full of things that I need every bit of strength and energy I can muster that month.  So I guess I'm grateful for that, but as I sit here in bed watching Big Bang Theory and Breaking Bad surrounded by pillows, DayQuil, orange juice ,and water, I can't help but think about just how much I dislike sitting and doing nothing.  Sure, it's great and necessary to have a little time to relax every now and then, but I don't like wasting a whole day by myself and not going anywhere or doing anything.  This goes back to my need to be busy.  To have things to do.  Especially when I'm in London and have friends literally right across the hall.  There's no excuse to not be doing something.  Except being sick.  That's a valid excuse.  And I don't like it.

P.S.  Since I'm sitting here with all the time in the world at my disposal, I was poking around on my computer and found this little video from last spring.  It made me laugh, so I thought why not share the entertainment?  Besides, who can resist The Proclaimers?  Now excuse me as I go watch How I Met Your Mother for the next few hours.

that time I sang karaoke

I don't sing.  Except for in the shower.  I'm famous there.  But otherwise, I don't sing.  Not that I have a horrible voice, but I'm nowhere near comfortable enough with it to sing in front of actual people.  Until Monday, that is.  I stood up and sang Bohemian Rhapsody with two friends at karaoke night.  I mean, it might be cheating since I was part of a group, and the whole bar was singing along at one point, but still... major accomplishment.

Fortunately {or unfortunately, depending on who you are}, karaoke nights are every other Monday, so perhaps one of these times I might get up and do a solo.  Might.  If you're lucky.  Or unlucky.  I don't know, that's TBD.

what's on your feet?

It's another vlog link-up!  And all about shoes!  Love.  Check it out, check out the other, and leave a comment with your own if you decide to make one too!  {You really should, because I would totally be all over that vid like a monkey over a banana... or something.  But I wanna see them.  So do it.}
You can see last month's vlog link up here.

my sister is a rockstar

Yesterday morning my sister sang the National Anthem for the Annual Air Show at the airport in Friday Harbor - and rocked it!  She was told there would be anywhere from five hundred to two thousand people there, and still got up there to show her stuff.  Let me tell you, I can barely sing along to a song if there's anyone else in the car with me, so I am thoroughly impressed by her.  If I'm gonna be working as a stage manager on Broadway someday, I'm sure she'll be on one of those stages belting it out.
I snuck a video in, so everyone else can listen, too.

what's in my closet

Hey hey, lookie here!  My first Vlog!

I decided to participate in a little link-up where various bloggers create videos showing what's in their closets.  I personally love organizing my clothes and accessories, so to be able to share the ways I like to do it, and to see how other people go about putting together their closets, was really fun for me to do.

{Disclaimer: Please excuse the crappy quality that makes me sound like I have a lisp.}

... and the rest of my Florida adventures

Here are the rest of my Florida vacation photos - mostly of palm trees, sunny skies, and hot bright sun.

That cute 'lil car right up there is my mom's Mazda Miata and it is sooo much fun to drive!  Lots of horsepower and the zoom zoom that the Mazda commercials promise.  I just wanted to take it to a speedway and let her rip!

Below is a video from a night out for dinner where the performers impersonate various famous singers while you eat.  This one in particular is the impersonation of Elvis, and let me tell you, the video does not do the hilarity of it justice!

proud to be a washingtonian

Yesterday, Washington state legislature voted yes to approving same-sex marriage.

Washington, I am so proud of you.
